After experimenting with raised line salt painting, another technique you can try is applying salt to your watercolor painting. This is called salt lifting, which leaves a crystalized texture when the water is absorbed. You can watch this video by Mr. Otter Studio comparing table salt, sea salt and Himalayan pink salt.
Make your own Martha Stewart watercolor paint:
- mixing bowl
- smaller containers
- 4 tablespoons baking soda
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- ½ teaspoon corn syrup
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- food coloring
