sensory friendly hours

about

During Sensory Friendly Hours, we provide families with additional tools, resources, and support to foster a comfortable learning environment, all while limiting admission to ensure a more quiet, spacious setting.

This program is generously supported by the Nora Roberts Foundation.

what to expect

Any family with a young learner who would benefit from the following adapted Museum experience is encouraged to attend.

Before your visit, you’ll receive:

  • a social story to help prepare for your Museum adventure; and
  • a guide to our exhibits, with an emphasis on sensory awareness and tips.

During your visit, you can expect:

  • fewer visitors in the space;
  • designated break spaces throughout the exhibits, in addition to our Quiet Room and Hideaway Tree;
  • free to borrow sensory bags and tools; and
  • friendly faces of staff members throughout the exhibits, ready to support your family.
