What does it take to turn a childhood dream into something extraordinary? Join astronaut Karen Nyberg and co-author Ann McCallum Staats for a special launch celebration of their new picture book, A Quilt of Stars: Astronaut Karen Nyberg Stitches a Dream.

In this interactive family program, Karen and Ann will bring Karen’s remarkable true story to life as they explore the dreams, goals, and many steps that took Karen from a child imagining the stars to living and working aboard the International Space Station. Children can enjoy a live reading of the story, joining the conversation along the way as they discover how Karen combined science, creativity, and her love of making — even while living in space. Young explorers can also participate in a star-making activity where they'll use folding, sewing, and weaving techniques to create constellation-inspired art.

The celebration will include opportunities to meet Karen and Ann and have books signed.

• 11:30 am - 12:15 pm: Book signing
