about
Get ready for Día de los Muertos by creating your own mini ofrenda with the National Children´s Museum and the Mexican Cultural Institute! In this hands-on, kid-friendly workshop, children will decorate a miniature altar and create meaningful elements using air-dry foam board and paint markers.
As they build their ofrendas, children will learn about the meaning behind traditional elements such as water, salt, copal, cempasúchil flowers, papel picado, pan de muerto, and sugar skulls. Through creativity and storytelling, the workshop introduces Día de los Muertos as a joyful tradition of remembering and honoring loved ones.
Children can take their mini ofrendas home and add a photo, favorite food, or other meaningful items as they prepare to celebrate Día de los Muertos with their families.
Partner pop-ups are included with general admission.
