Special Events + Programs Inspire Curiosity to Bloom at National Children’s Museum in March

March 15, 2023
For Immediate Release

Two Weeks of Cherry Blossom Activations + Girl Scout Day on March 18

WASHINGTON – This spring, curiosity is in full bloom at National Children’s Museum in downtown D.C.! Through special events and seasonal programming, families can pique their interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) concepts. Learn more about these play-based experiences below.

Girl Scout Day

March 18 from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at National Children’s Museum

Calling all Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors! Girl Scouts are invited to spend the day playing in the Museum’s exhibits, participating in special pop-up activities, and meeting incredible women in STEM careers during a speaker series.

Featured speakers include an earthquake geologist, infectious disease expert, and sound designer and composer; and sessions will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Each session has limited first-come, first-serve seating.

As part of the experience, Girl Scouts will also have the opportunity to interact with the Museum’s “The STEAM in Me” exhibit, which asks children to picture themselves in their dream science, technology, engineering, arts, and math jobs. Part of the exhibit includes career highlight posters, which feature women in STEM fields who are ambassadors through Museum partner Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN® Initiative.

By advocating for authentic representation of the diverse women professionals in STEM, Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN® Initiative is activating a culture shift to open the eyes of young girls to STEM careers. If a young girl is inspired to pursue STEM, then she can change the world!

Troops and individual scouts can use promo code GSD2023 when purchasing tickets to receive a 10% discount on Museum admission and a special Girl Scout Day fun patch for each Girl Scout who visits. Note, the Museum will still be open to the public.

Girl Scout Day 2023 is generously sponsored by TCMA for Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.
