National Children’s Museum to Host Groundbreaking AI Literacy Event for Early Education
Advancing a National Approach to AI for Young Learners: Distinguished Panel and Workshops in Conjunction with the Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 27, 2025) – On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, National Children’s Museum will convene top industry experts, educators, and policymakers for “Shaping the Future of AI Education for Young Learners.” Held in conjunction with the Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus, this solutions-driven event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at the Museum’s Washington, D.C. home.
The gathering will explore a critical question: How can complex concepts of artificial intelligence be made accessible and developmentally appropriate for young children, particularly through hands-on, screenless learning experiences?
Distinguished Speakers
Museum President and CEO Kiryn Hoffman will welcome the following distinguished speakers:
- Congressman Don Beyer, Representative of Virginia’s 8th District and Vice Chair of the Congressional Artificial Intelligence Caucus
- Dr. Lynne Parker, Associate Vice Chancellor Emeritus of University of Tennessee and Former Principal Deputy Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
- Jennie Magiera, Global Head of Education Impact at Google, Founder of Our Voice Alliance, and author of Courageous Edventures
- Erin Mote, CEO and Founder of InnovateEDU
Closing remarks will be delivered by Dr. James L. Moore III, Assistant Director in the Directorate for STEM Education at the US National Science Foundation.
Workshops and Long-Term Impact
Following the expert panel, attendees will participate in roundtable discussions and collaborative workshops designed to generate hands-on, screenless exhibit ideas that make artificial intelligence concepts tangible for young learners. Insights and outcomes from these sessions will inform the Museum’s upcoming national initiative, which aims to support children's museums across the country in developing foundational AI literacy exhibits. As artificial intelligence profoundly shapes the modern world, National Children’s Museum affirms its commitment to prepare all children to understand and thrive in the future they will inherit.
