Washington Commanders Foundation Partners with National Children’s Museum to refresh Little Movers Exhibit

May 29, 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON — National Children’s Museum, renowned for its commitment to play-based science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) education, today announced an exciting partnership with the Washington Commanders Foundation. The Foundation’s $50,000 investment will fund a reimagination of the Museum’s Little Movers toddler playspace and sponsorship of the exhibit for one year.

The Little Movers exhibit provides a space for gross and fine motor exploration for the Museum’s youngest visitors, ages 0-3. The Washington Commanders Foundation’s support will enable critical upgrades to the space, including new soft space play mats and developmentally-appropriate equipment for early learners. The space will be refreshed with a new mural and flooring resembling a gridiron, creating an immersive experience for young fans and their caregivers as they move, jump, crawl, and play.

“We share the commitment of the National Children’s Museum to play-based learning and are pleased to partner with them on an exciting space for the youngest learners and their families,” said Marjorie Harris, Chairman of the Washington Commanders Foundation. “Football is a great unifier, and we hope this new space will bring the community together with a shared goal of supporting kids and their early education.”

“We are grateful for the partnership of the Washington Commanders Foundation, and their commitment to young leaders in our community,” said interim CEO, Meredith Hamme. “Their support fuels the Museum’s mission to inspire children to care about and change the world,  and contributes to a joyful learning environment.”

The exhibit refresh is set to be complete in mid-summer 2024.

Tickets to the Museum are $18.95 for adults and children 1 and older and are free for children under 1 and Museum members. To stay up to date on the relaunch of Little Movers, please visit www.nationalchildrensmuseum.org.

Located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW off the Woodrow Wilson Plaza, National Children’s Museum is open 9:30 am to 4:30 pm every day except Tuesdays.
