FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From September 24, 2022 – January 8, 2023, families will recognize, explore, and express emotions through hands-on experiences inspired by the hit animated film

WASHINGTON — This fall and winter, prepare for a joy-filled family experience! Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out, the first interactive exhibit based on Disney and Pixar’s hit animated feature Inside Out, arrives at National Children’s Museum on September 24, 2022.

Visitors are invited to interact with hands-on and digital exhibit features that demonstrate the important role emotions, memory, and imagination play in our everyday lives. Experiences focus on the five emotions featured in the award-winning film: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. Through hands-on, playful experiences, children and their families learn to recognize emotions and explore how they are expressed and managed.

Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out will be open for play at National Children’s Museum from September 24, 2022 – January 8, 2023.

“At a time when social-emotional learning is needed more than ever, this exhibit is an incredible opportunity for children and families to explore emotions and build communication skills together,” said Crystal Bowyer, President + CEO of National Children’s Museum. “The Museum is thrilled to host Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out this fall.”

The exhibit was developed by Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios.

In this exhibit, visitors can:

Step into Headquarters to explore the range and intensity of emotions at the Control Panel.

Explore some of the ways we show how we feel with our faces and bodies at the Emotions Mirrors.

Think about an important memory and how it made them feel—or show how they’re feeling currently by creating a glowing Memory Sphere.

Use their imagination to create a story and perform it at Dream Productions.

Work to keep the train on track—what feelings do you have when you control and balance the Train of Thought?

Explore how emotions work together as they stack and balance the Emotion Blocks.

The Emotions at Play with Pixar’s Inside Out exhibit is included in the cost of Museum admission. Tickets to the Museum are $15.95 for adults and children 1 and older and are free for children under 1 and Museum members.
