National Children’s Museum is a world-class institution that aims to spark children’s imaginations and encourage them to dream. Steps off the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue, National Children’s Museum celebrates the joy of childhood through science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) exhibits and programs. As the part-time Administrative Systems Associate, you will help realize this vision for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

As Administrative Systems Associate, reporting to the Administrative Systems Specialist, you will provide support for all of the Museum’s administrative and systems efforts and provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Your work will support the mission of the National Children’s Museum to inspire children to care about and change the world–playing a critical role in sparking curiosity and igniting innovation for millions of children in this next generation.

what you’ll do

Assist with administrative support across all areas of the Museum;

Assist with the online and in-person booking process for Field Trips and Birthday Parties in the Museum;

Monitor general field trip, education, group booking, and ticketing email inboxes for queries and respond in a timely manner to provide exceptional customer service;

Assist in entering and maintaining clean data and adjust records as needed to help maintain data quality and ensure useful output reports; and

Support other Museum-related administrative tasks as needed.

Previous experience in the non-profit sector, preferably at a cultural institution;

High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;

Team player who values a collaborative working environment;

Strong writing skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences; and

Passion for the mission and values of National Children’s Museum.

additional helpful experience for this role:

Previous experience in relevant systems and with databases;

Previous experience managing data; and 

Knowledge or experience working with emerging technology and interactive software systems.

hours + location

National Children’s Museum at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW  and occasional work at Administrative Offices at 1275 Pennsylvania Ave NW

Part-time position 20-30 hours a week. Occasional weekends, special events, evenings, and holidays will be necessary.

salary + benefits

$18.50 per hour
